Downtown Greeneville Follow the Quilt Trail
I did this in one day and got to see a few other things too. Some spots that had quilts and sewing items on display right in the vicinity.
You may want to stop inside the Andrew Johnson Historic Site visitors center and museum to pick up a rack card with a map and the whole list. I wished I knew they had this, as I went inside and was like cool there’s a map. It made it easier to do. I actually got me two. One to keep and one to check off.
The trail is a labor of love by area artists – volunteers whose mission is to share Greene County history as seen through the lens of quilts. The area is known for its exceptional quilting arts tradition and fine craft, which continues today in the community. The quilt blocks represent , actual heirloom quilts from local families. Each block s story is on a plaque and online at www.QuiltTrail.org. Walk the quilts, read the history and explore Greeneville!
Rack Card
One of the quilt block shops had 5 quilt blocks in one stop at the Quilt Alley at the General Morgan Inn.
Some of the quilt blocks you had to really look for them. As some were at the top of the front of a building or in the back. Most were on the sides of buildings.
I did walk a lot of it, but I also drove some to a few too. After seeing a few quilt blocks I turned on the tracking in my Fitbit. You can see me walking back and forth trying to see one.
Also note, at the time of this list some streets are closed or blocked off to either foot traffic but mostly vehicle traffic due to construction.
A lot of the quilt blocks on this quilt trail was painted by Amy Saxomeyer and friends.
