Interfacing

Interfacing is a sewing term that helps stabilize and gives support for the shell of the fabric for sewn projects.

Often you use this for T-shirt quilts or to thicken up, stabilize, strengthen, add structure and/or crisp up fabric.

Also found in shirt collars and embroidery.

You will find this layer which often lays between the lining and the outer fabric and helps to prevent stretching a d it is also used to reinforce hems or even in embroidery and often are ironed in, glued in or sewn in.

Interfacing can be either ironed on or sewn on. (Depends on the type of interfacing used).

There are 6 main types:

  1. Woven interfacing
  2. Non- woven interfacing
  3. Knit interfacing
  4. Fusible interfacing
  5. Non-fusible interfacing
  6. Double-sided fusible

I got to learn how to stabilize a tshirt using interfacing.
