National Sewing Month
A proclamation from President Ronald Reagan, In 1982, where he declared “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.” Subsequent Proclamations declared that “Tens of millions of Americans sew at home. Their efforts demonstrate the industry, the skill and the self-reliance which are so characteristic of this Nation.”
This occurs Every September.

After a year that found both new and experienced sewists becoming frontline supporters creating masks and other protective equipment, the skills we learned, practiced, used, and taught to others has driven a resurgence in the art of sewing.
