Networking is an essential aspect of any hobby or business, and sewing and quilting are no exceptions. Whether you’re just starting out or have been quilting for years, meeting other people who share your passion for this craft can be incredibly rewarding. #networking
Networking is an essential aspect of any hobby or business
There are many ways to network and meet new people in the sewing and quilting community, including attending events, joining clubs, and participating in online communities.
One way I have networked is going to the local quilt fabric shops and introducing my self. Plus often you can also meet other customers too, But, I plan to start going to craft fairs … both setting up and/or visiting.
Networking and meeting people who share your interest in sewing and quilting can be a great way to expand your skills, get inspiration, and make new friends. Here are some tips to help you connect with other sewists and quilters:
- Attend local sewing and quilting events: Look for events like fabric shows, sewing expos, and quilt guild meetings in your area. These events are a great way to meet other sewists and quilters and learn about new techniques and products.
- Join online sewing and quilting communities: There are many online communities dedicated to sewing and quilting. Joining these groups can be a great way to connect with other sewists and quilters, ask questions, and share your work.
- Take classes: Taking classes at your local fabric store or community center can be a great way to meet other sewists and quilters and learn new skills. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with other students and the instructor.
- Attend retreats: Sewing and quilting retreats offer the chance to spend several days with other sewists and quilters, working on projects, sharing ideas, and learning from each other. Look for retreats in your area or consider traveling to attend one.
- Volunteer: Consider volunteering at a local quilting guild or sewing group. This can be a great way to meet other sewists and quilters and give back to your community at the same time.
- Participate in sewing and quilting challenges: Online sewing and quilting challenges are a great way to connect with other sewists and quilters and showcase your work. Look for challenges on social media or online communities and participate by sharing your progress and final project.
- Join a sewing or quilting group: Look for local sewing or quilting groups in your area and consider joining one. These groups often meet regularly to sew, quilt, and share ideas. It’s a great way to connect with other sewists and quilters on a regular basis.
- Attend sewing and quilting conferences: Look for sewing and quilting conferences in your area or consider traveling to attend one. These conferences often feature workshops, lectures, and vendor exhibits, and they offer a great opportunity to meet other sewists and quilters from all over the world.
- Bulletin Boards: Either online or not, you can add some of business cards for others too see. This is an indirect approach to networking.
Remember, the key to networking and meeting people for sewing and quilting is to be open, friendly, and willing to learn from others. Don’t be afraid to reach out and connect with other sewists and quilters in your community or online. You never know where your new connections might lead! Happy sewing!
