The barn quilt in the image is a Bear’s Paw quilt pattern. It features a central square surrounded by eight triangles that resemble bear’s paws. This pattern is known for its simplicity and striking appearance.

However, these also look like leaves.

The quilt blocks also resemble a leaf, perhaps tying with the Redbud name. Most of the leaves are being used are maple leaves.

A redbud tree is a beautiful flowering tree known for its early spring blooms. It’s often one of the first trees to bloom, showcasing clusters of pink or purple flowers before its leaves emerge. The flowers are typically pea-shaped and grow in clusters along the branches and sometimes even on the trunk.

Redbud trees are popular ornamental trees due to their attractive appearance and relatively low maintenance. They have heart-shaped leaves that turn green in summer and yellow in fall. These trees are native to eastern North America and can be found in many parts of the United States.

Did you know?

Redbud leaves do bear a resemblance to maple leaves. Both have heart-shaped outlines and are typically lobed. However, there are some key differences:

  • Lobes: Redbud leaves usually have two main lobes, while maple leaves can have three, five, or even more lobes.
  • Shape: Redbud leaves tend to be more rounded and less pointed at the tips than maple leaves.
  • Veins: The veins on redbud leaves are often more prominent and run parallel to each other, whereas maple leaf veins tend to be more complex and branching.

So, while they share some similarities, redbud and maple leaves can be distinguished by their specific characteristics.

I am not sure the story or artist of the barn quilt. If anyone knows, feel free to share in the comments below.
