Quilt Mural in Barbourville
If you look closely you can see the painted quilt on this mural. This mural is located on the Mountain Advocate Media building at the corner of College and Knox Street.
The previous artwork, known as the “quilt mural” was commissioned by Barbourville Tourism in the mid-2000s and had faded over the years. Near the center of the new mural is a portion of the original artwork. (Mountain Advocate)
WeThe current design, shown above, was started in the Fall of 2021. Took the photo March 4, 2023.
If anyone has an image of the original quilt mural, please let me know, I’d love to share it for others to see that bit of history.
I am glad to find looking into this that they did at least keep part of the original.

About Barbourville, KY
Barbourville is a city in Knox County, Kentucky, United States. It is the county seat of Knox County and has a population of around 3,100 people.
Barbourville was established in 1800 and was named after James Barbour, the Governor of Virginia at the time. The city played a significant role in the Civil War, as it was the site of several battles and skirmishes.
