Skipping Stitches

Skipping Stitches are you noticing that your sewing machine is skipping stitches or making very long stitches.

If so, here’s a few issues that might help fix the issue of skipping stitches or gap stitches.

1. Check needle

It might be bent, not in securely or the wrong type if needle. It also might not be in all the way up. (Blog post on that coming soon)

2. Adjust tension / threading

Sometimes you have the wrong tension set for what you were sewing or incorrect threading.

Those two didn’t seem to be my issue! So I googled and found three common issues and mine turned out to be …

3. Bobbin deck full of lint

Simply remove your plate and expose your Bobbin deck. Then use canned air and clean out the lint.

So this is something you should regularly do along with oiling the sewing machine. When I say regularly I mean very often … the more you sew the more often needed.

Sadly this was the first time I did the lint cleaning in over two years.

Lesson learned for me and I hope this tip can help you. If it has! Please share this blog post!

If none of those resolve the issue, then your sewing machine may need to be serviced by a professional.
