Zipper pouches are also known as Zipper Clutches, Zipper Bags, Etc. Your size can vary depending on the zipper size and the size you want to make yours, but the premise is still the same no matter the size you choose.

What you will need

  • Zipper (size of your choice, I am using 9 inch zipper
  • Zipper pull (optional)
  • Sewing Machine or sew by hand if you desire

*I use a 9 ½” by 6 ½” fabric, you can use the size you want.

If you want a taller pouch, increase the height.

If you want a wider pouch, increase the width and the zipper size. Add ½ inch to the width based on the size of the zipper. For example I use a 9 inch zipper, so the width would need to be 9 ½ inches.

You can use this sane method to sew a decorative pillow, just adjust based on the size of the pillow.

Instructions

1. Cut your fabric to size needed for your zipper pouch.

2. Attach the wrong sides of a design and a solid. (So both the right sides are seen.) You will need the inside solid to be seen correctly. You can use sewing pins or sewing clips.

3. Fold down a hem like and sew the tops of each.

4. Attach the zipper on both sides.

5. Unzip the zipper to the middle or all the way. This step is very important or you won’t be able to turn it around to the correct side.

6. Sew all the way around the edge. Making sure you sew all in.

7. Trim access edge.

8. Turn out to the right side.

9. Zip it up.

10. Add a zipper pull if you desire. I have two kinds of zipper pulls I use.
