Use scrap fabric to stuff a stuffed animal – You can dice up the scraps of fabric and batting and stuff a stuffed animal or add more stuffing to one too.
Use scrap fabric to stuff a stuffed animal
Instead of stuff with poly-Fil, you can use scrap fabric and batting. So even the tiniest piece can be used here! Even the side I do part of the fabric.
I mentioned this in this blog post in 10 uses for scrap fabric.
First, Cut up your scrap fabric and batting into diced pieces of fabric.
It is best to already cut one at a seam, if available.
Now, cut a slit in the stuffed animal if one isn’t already there.
Now stuff the stuffed animal with the diced pieces of fabric and batting.
Push around to distribute.
Add until stuffed to your liking, don’t over stuff! If you over stuff, you won’t be able to sew the slit back or risk your slit opening back up.
If you want cut a heart shaped fabric, now your stuffed animal has a heart!
Yes, I know this heart was very big! But it gives you idea, after all Build-A-Bear puts in hearts with their products.
Speaking of Build-A-Bear, did you know they can do minor repairs on their stuffed items.
Finally Sew the slit back! You may have to hand sew this.
He felt just like he was before. I cannot tell he has scrap fabric in him.
Thank you Lucas came out of his stuffing surgery just fine and more stuffed. Yes, you can pretend your loved one, the stuffed animal has a surgery.
I slit his back because my wife just had back surgery so they both now have an incision on thier back.
