Now we know what sock monkeys are made of, but what are they? What do they mean? Etc.?

Sock monkeys are folk art and kitsch in the culture deriving from the United States and Canada.

In 1932, Howard Monk, did some changes to the dock monkey, today known as the Rockford Red Heel Sock Monkey, De-Tec-Tip. Since they originally had white heels.

However, some reports show John Nelson, patented the knit sock Monkey in 1868.

Rockford, Illinois is home of the sick Monkey.

In February 2015, Jody Lewis of Bridgwater, Somerset UK, made the official Guinness world record for largest sock monkey made from individual socks. The sock monkey stands at 10 feet 5.59 inches.
