Rotary Cutters are very sharp
Yes, I know they are sharp! But accidents still can happen! For example, my ruler slipped while cutting fabric … causing the rotary cutter to slip and cut my finger bad.
You still need to use extra caution. I’m Thinking of getting special cutting gloves. Even though I’ve been doing sewing now for 2 years or so. Just to be on the safe side. This is no fun! Kodi, safety officer coordinator lovee, and Steve made a short safety video.

Warning I share a few other photos in the spoiler. These do show my finger exposed and blood. Not for the squeamish. I know not a lot of people want to see that, but it can show you an example of what can happen to you as well. That is why they are hidden in the spoiler box below.
Sorry to show this, but my hopes is to help raise awareness of how sharp and dangerous a rotary cutter can be.
The pain honestly not bad at all. It is tender and throbs, almost like I can feel heart beat.
I will update you on my healing. Just reminding you all to be careful when using a rotary cutter or any other sharp tool.
One week later, my finger still healing nicely. I’ve been keeping it wrapped. I use genetic first aid ointment, first aid pad and then tape gauze around my finger. I changed it twice a day (morning & night). You could tell that I got a small chunk off the side of my finger.
It had now been about a week and a half. Healing even more. It still has tenderness and a little throbbing feeling. Scabbing up nicely and not as big. It’s amazing how the skin grows back and heals.
Two weeks later my scab is much smaller, still a little tender. I have now been only keeping it covered when I am at work or in public. But, while at home I let air get to it.
Three weeks later, almost totally healed. Seems like a scar and tiny scab and waiting skin to grow back. It is peeling. My finger still a little tender.
