What is QuiltCon? An event that transcends mere exhibitions and workshops; it’s a celebration, an immersion, and a communion of creativity and community. Welcome to QuiltCon, where fabric becomes a medium of expression, and stitches weave narratives of passion and artistry. #quiltcon
What is QuiltCon?
QuiltCon is not just another convention; it’s the premier event for modern quilters worldwide. Organized by the Modern Quilt Guild, QuiltCon is an annual gathering that celebrates the contemporary quilting movement. It serves as a platform for quilters of all levels to come together, share ideas, learn from each other, and showcase their work.
The Evolution of Modern Quilting
Traditional quilting techniques have evolved over centuries, but modern quilting represents a departure from the conventional norms. Characterized by bold designs, minimalist aesthetics, and innovative approaches, modern quilting embraces experimentation and individuality. QuiltCon reflects this evolution by spotlighting the diversity and dynamism within the modern quilting community.
What Happens at QuiltCon?
At QuiltCon, attendees can immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of activities:
- Exhibits: Explore awe-inspiring quilts that push the boundaries of design and technique. From vibrant geometric patterns to abstract compositions, the exhibit hall showcases the breadth and depth of modern quilting.
- Lectures and Workshops: Learn from industry experts and fellow quilters through a diverse range of lectures and hands-on workshops. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned quilter, there’s always something new to discover and master.
- Vendor Marketplace: Indulge your passion for fabric and supplies at the bustling vendor marketplace. From artisanal fabrics to cutting-edge tools, the marketplace offers a treasure trove of quilting essentials and inspiration.
- Social Events: Connect with like-minded quilters during social events, meetups, and networking sessions. QuiltCon fosters a sense of camaraderie and belonging, creating opportunities to forge lasting friendships within the quilting community.
Beyond the Stitches: The Impact of QuiltCon
QuiltCon is more than just a gathering; it’s a catalyst for creativity, innovation, and social change. By celebrating diversity, fostering inclusivity, and championing artistic expression, QuiltCon empowers quilters to find their voice and make a meaningful impact both within and beyond the quilting world.
Conclusion: Stitching Together a Brighter Future
In essence, QuiltCon is a celebration of creativity, community, and collaboration. It’s where passion meets purpose, where stitches tell stories, and where friendships are sewn. Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or a curious beginner, QuiltCon welcomes you to join the vibrant tapestry of modern quilting and be part of a movement that’s shaping the future of this timeless art form.
I hope to be able to attend a QuiltCon or even a quilting expo sometime in the future, as I’m still learning to try to quilt.

I go to American Quilters Society Quilt Show. They’re similar to Quiltcon but feature more pictorial and traditional quilts. I want to go to QuiltCon one year too
I have never been to any kind of quilt show or anything yet, we have one here called the Smoky Mountain Quilt Show that comes.
