Needle in a haystack – this term is not sewing related but uses a sewing notion from sewing. #sewing

Needle in a haystack

Simply means that someone or something that is very hard to find.

If you think about it strand of hay, straw, look similar to a needle. Not to mention, roughly about the same size.

FYI, haystack is one word, I first thought it was two like hay stack. (But I’m sure both would still work)

This metaphor is believed to originate in the 1500’s. So over 500 years ago.
