National Red Mittens Day may not be what you think it is, or is it? #RedMittensDay
National Red Mittens Day
This holiday is not celebrated on the United States, but is just North of us in Canada. It is held annually on November 21.
It began by the Hudson’s Bay Company.
This holiday is more about showing support for Canadian athletes preparing for the Olympics than it is mittens. However, it involves mittens, as you buy red mittens to show your support. Red is Canada’s National Color.
If you are Canadian, you could sell mittens and donate to that cause, if you so choose to. Or just sew mittens for fun.
Not only are the kittens to keep your fingers warm, but also to represent the generosity, pride, and excellence of every Canadian.
I am not Canadian, but saw this holiday pop up for holidays and I had to look into it since I wasn’t familiar with it.
This holiday was started in 2017, but got its start during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
This is a list of the upcoming events that Steve Sews will be at. If you know of one in the East Tennessee area, let me know.

Threadbare Tales: A Stitch in Time Saves Nine… Hours of My Life – In the riveting world of sewing, where needles are mightier than swords (and far more dangerous if mishandled), I embarked on a heroic quest armed with nothing but fabric and a questionable sense of optimism. Little did I know that the journey into the abyss of stitching would make the Odyssey look like a Sunday stroll.
The Revolutionary Sewing Machine: Because Hand-Sewing Was Too Mainstream – Ah, the sewing machine – the unsung hero of the fashion revolution, or should we say, the “threaded rebellion” against the tyranny of hand-sewing. In a world where people once believed in the meditative power of pricking their fingers with needles, the sewing machine dared to challenge tradition and bring efficiency to the realm of fabric manipulation. The Revolutionary Sewing Machine: Because Hand-Sewing Was Too Mainstream Gone are the days when your grandma would spend hours meticulously stitching together garments with the precision of a surgeon. Now, thanks to the… Continue reading The Revolutionary Sewing Machine: Because Hand-Sewing Was Too Mainstream
