Here is the list of 47 sewing and quilting terms:

  1. Seam: The line of stitching that joins two pieces of fabric together.
  2. Hem: The finished edge of a garment or fabric that is turned under and sewn.
  3. Bias: The diagonal direction of woven fabric, which is often used to add flexibility and drape to a garment.
  4. Interfacing: A material that is used to stiffen and reinforce areas of a garment, such as collars or cuffs.
  1. Bobbin: The small spool that holds the lower thread in a sewing machine.
  2. Thread: The thin, flexible material used to sew fabric together.
  3. Needle: The pointed tool that carries the thread through the fabric in a sewing machine.
  4. Seam allowance: The extra space between the edge of the fabric and the seam line that allows for the stitching to be hidden inside the garment.
  5. Piping: A decorative trim made of fabric-covered cord that is inserted into a seam.
  6. Basting: A temporary stitch used to hold fabric in place before final sewing.
  7. Appliqué: A decorative technique in which fabric shapes are sewn onto a base fabric.
